Eye for Design

With an e-business website, you have the opportunity to communicate to a vast audience of would-be customers. Ultimately, you can do this in a variety of ways. But, first of all, you have to attract their attention. You have to turn them on to your ideas in the briefest glimpse of a first impression and in an environment where you are about 99.9% more likely to turn them off...!

Good web design can achieve this for you by projecting something of you and your business ethos out onto the web. Something tangible that will make an impression on the right people - people who you are targeting as potential customers / business partners / friends etc...

This site, for all its simplicity, says a lot about us and what we do. It won't be everyone's cup of tea. But you can't please everyone. Hopefully, the site has made an impression on you and that is why you are still here reading this. This is the first step towards what we are trying to achieve with our web design - to attract potential customers at the beginning of what we hope will be a long and mutually fruitful relationship.

Maybe we have an eye for design. Or maybe we just know what we like and with time and experience we have learned what works and what doesn't.

Graphic Design - Logo's - Corporate Branding

Whilst we are web designers, we would never profess to be graphic designers. We would never offer our clients a coprorate re-branding service for instance. Which is a shame, because there seems to be lots of money in it.

And yet we do this kind of design as part of our job. All at web design rates too. You'll have to be the judge of how succesful we are at it. Most of our customers seem to be happy with what we do.

Take www.midrcymru.org.uk as an example. This is a website we developed for the Welsh Liberal Democrats Youth & Students. The design had to fit with the Lib Dem branding. But, we found their other sites all to be a bit white with yellow and black bits. And nothing to suggest Welshness. So we added green and red to the colour scheme and came up with the dragon flag site banner - all as part of the "try before you buy" prototype. Everyone seemed to like it - and we got the job.

Technicalities

We like to keep our web development simple too. We like our websites to be user friendly, easy to maintain and above all search engine friendly. For all these reasons, straightforward HTML websites are best in our opinion.

We specialise in the following technologies:

• HTML - we use a mix of Dreamweaver MX 2004 and hand-coding to create XHTML compliant websites;

• JavaScript - as appropriate;

• Flash - we use for add-ons such as audio players, animation and photo galleries. We don't build entirely Flash sites;

• PHP / MySQL - for all our database driven sites.
